Directions to the Westgate Parks

The Westgate Parks benefit from having multiple entrance points. There are information signs at each entrance to show you where you are. The children’s play area is situated at Toddler’s Cove.

By Bicycle:

There are free bicycle racks just off the Great Stour Way at Toddler’s Cove.

By Train:

Both Canterbury West and East train stations are minutes away from the Westgate Parks. For train timetables and fares visit: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

Directions from Canterbury West Station: Walking approximately 5- 10 minutes

On exiting the station, turn right and head along Station Road West, cross the road using the designated crossing point so that you are on the opposite side to Sainsbury’s Local.  Turn left at the end of the road and take the crossing opposite the Greengrocers. Then take the turning/road on your right named ‘Linden Grove’ which is directly opposite the Bishops Finger pub. Continue along Linden Grove, you will see the Great River Stour on your left. As the road straightens cross over and enter the Westgate Gardens via the gateway.

Directions from Canterbury East Station: Walking approximately 10 minutes

On exiting the station, take care to cross the road and continue straight ahead over the Bridge. After crossing the bridge take the turning on your left. Walk past the public toilets until you reach Castle Row. Cross over the road here and take the path straight ahead through the Castle Row car park. Cross the Road and take the road directly in front of you into Gas Street. The Norman Castle should now be on your left and there is a pavement to your right. At the end of the road turn left, and follow signs for the Stour Valley Way. The path will take you alongside the Rheims Way and then under an underpass into Tannery Field.

By Car: Directions to Toddler’s Cove Car Park

From the A28 Wincheap:

Turn onto the A290 (Rheims Way). At St. Peter’s Roundabout go straight ahead along St. Peter’s Place, pass the traffic lights. The road bends left as you pass the Westgate Towers. At the small roundabout go straight ahead. Take the first turning on your left into Linden Grove, which is directly opposite the Bishops Finger Pub. Take care as you turn as the road is narrow. Continue along Linden Avenue, taking care as the road bends to become Whitehall Road. Take the uphill turning for ‘Whitehall Bridge Road’ on your right and then the first turning on your left, which is signposted ‘Whitehall Close.’ Continue straight ahead, you will pass underneath the Rheims Way. Take the next turning on your left into Toddler’s Cove car park.

From the A2 Faversham:

Leave the A2 at the Canterbury exit and continue along the A2050, heading straight ahead at the traffic lights. Go straight on at the first roundabout and then turn left at the second roundabout (St. Peter’s roundabout). Go straight ahead along St. Peter’s Place, pass the traffic lights. The road bends left as you pass the Westgate Towers. At the small roundabout go straight ahead. Take the first turning on your left into Linden Grove, which is directly opposite the Bishops Finger Pub. Take care as you turn as the road is narrow. Continue along Linden Avenue, taking care as the road bends to become Whitehall Road.
